I am a Natural Advocate and speaker who knows the healing power of Jesus Christ. Please search "Abilene's Child/Tormented Hope". I am very interested in hosting a talk show about trauma and abuse. I have spoken three times at Big Spring State Hospital, training the staff as to how to help the hungry and wounded souls find a true path to healing. I

I do not know where you are located, but I am in the Ft.Worth/Dallas area, Cleburne, Texas.

I have just finished my first book. I have sent it to the publisher. It is called, "Tormented Hope/Abilene's Child". I believe that I can maximize ratings. I am a "thought" starter who is highly creative. I have the ability to multi-task while paying close attention to details. I am very organized and have strong communication skills. More than any of this, I have a heart for the harvest and believe that God gives insight on how to reach the heart of the wounded soul. I want to talk about suicide and compare it to the Word of God leaving the audience with Godly inspiration.

I can be contacted at 817.648.8184.

Thank you for all that you do for the harvest,

Carol S. "Susie" Hortman

Dead on the money, Dan -- So why do so few stations and (no)personalities do these things? With the current mind-set of talk radio hosts and station PDs, you're bound to see a collapse like newspapers. Radio needs, too, to change their business model (or recapture things they've known but forgotten in the past).

I heard someone say the other day "We don't advertise because we don't like talk radio." The sales rep didn't fight it. She says, "I get that a lot." (not even a simple, "but your customers might" -- some great training there, btw --)

However with the stigma on talk radio left by what you call "Let's imitate Rush" Radio, I'm not surprised that the sales rep and the potential advertiser don't "get it" -

Keep Rockin' it on thetalkradioreport

You shouldn't cut them slack Dan. Not just for the reason you mentioned, but because they are really looking for a glorified producer, not a co-host. Look at the responsibilities (running the board, editing, Knowledge of Vox-Pro, ect.) Maybe a music station would expect some of this from a host, but not talk. They want something for nothing. Shame.

Dan
Thanks for the splash, the kind words and professional responses to the "differently-motivated" reporter.

I was "dodgy" with Jimmy Olsen because the paper has a well-earned reputation for villifying local individuals at odds with their editorial philosophy which tends toward "Dictitorial". As our programming maintains a libertarian bent, this has caused some...tension...between WSPD and the paper. The fact our AP Award-Winning News Dept regularly scoops them, hasn't made for an exchange of Valentine's (if you get my drift!). Still, don't you wonder about the relevance of a host's age or the propriety of asking one's compensation? The word "rude" comes to mind.

One minor correction: We actually have *3* local hosts on WSPD: Fred LeFevbre, Maggie Thurber and this Wilson guy. All 3 of us have been enjoying double-digit ratings for 2-3 years.

All together, Toledo has been a truly unique radio experience. Nothing like WABC, Z-93, KSFO or some of my other haunts....but definitely a chapter or two in the memoirs - if they ever get written!

Thanks again.
